“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
Youth ministry is one of the many important ministries of our church. We love our children and are concerned about reaching the next generation with the gospel and seeing that they have an opportunity to know Christ in their lives, become mature disciples for Him and active participates and leaders in the church and community.
Our youngest youth group is our Junior Baptist Youth Fellowship. This group is made up of kids in first grade through sixth grade. They meet twice a month on Sunday evenings at the Berean Baptist Temple during the months of October through May.
Using games, crafts, creative Bible lessons, Scripture memorization and a lot of humor, the leaders focus on applying God’s truth found in the Bible to the children’s everyday lives. In addition, several times throughout the year the group celebrates the holidays with parties, participants in a junior retreat sleep-over for children in third grade through sixth grade as well as engage in special projects such as planting flowers around the church property and making puppets to use in puppet shows for the nursery children. Recently, the group was involved in making a movie based on the story of Daniel and the lions den.
Our other youth group is our Senior Baptist Youth Fellowship and is a joint ministry with the Cohansey Baptist Church of Roadstown. This group is made up of kids in seventh grade through twelfth grade. They meet every Sunday evening at the Cohansey Baptist Church during the months of September through May.
Like our other youth group, the leaders of our older youth explore the Word of God in creative and fun ways and discover during the adventure how much God loves them and wants to be a part of their lives. In addition, the group enjoys going on spiritual retreats, summer camp and attending Christian music festivals as well as being involved in community service projects and mission opportunities such as Christmas caroling to shut-ins, participating in a “30 Hour Famine” event and volunteering as helpers during Vacation Bible School.
