“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its
stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your
light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven.”
In order to be this light for Jesus Christ, we at Berean Baptist are involved in a number of outreaches in our community and beyond our region. Here are just a few ways:
These teams, made up from members of our congregation, serve in local community ministries such as volunteering at the soup kitchen. This outreach opportunity is a new ministry for Berean Baptist and we are excited to see how the Lord is going to use us in His work in Bridgeton and beyond through COST.
This outreach, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, allows us to fill shoeboxes with gifts and gospel materials for children around the world at the Christmas season. Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Samaritan’s Purse OCC project.
Each year around Thanksgiving Day and Resurrection Sunday we fill and deliver baskets with food and supplies so needy families in our community can enjoy a holiday dinner.
We of Berean Baptist team up with our Hispanic brothers and sisters of Camino A La Salvacion – Iglesia Pentecostal each year and participate in “Operation Back-Pack”. This outreach provides back-packs and school supplies to needy children in our community each fall.
This national organization is a nonprofit agency committed to providing individualized, accurate and relevant support and information about pregnancy, sexual health and healthy relationships. In 2014, we began to be more involved in this outreach by supporting their efforts in Cumberland and Salem counties of New Jersey.
The Angel Tree Program is one of a number of programs done by Prison Fellowship. Through the Angel Tree Program, gifts and Gospel materials are made available to incarcerated parents to give to their children at Christmas. Many at Berean Baptist have enjoyed being a part of this outreach.
Recently, we have become very involved in our local Soup Kitchen by our members volunteering their time to serve on site and by collecting canned goods for the local Food Distribution program in our community.
Through our annual mission giving as a congregation we are able to help support a number of ministries. Here are a few:
Baptist Camp & Conference Center, Lebanon, New Jersey
Riverview Estates (Retirement Home), Riverton, New Jersey
Habitat for Humanity, Millville, New Jersey
Ranch Hope in Alloway, New Jersey
Kodiak Alaska Orphanage, Kodiak, Alaska
Danda Baptist Church, Danda, Haiti
Through four special offerings received during the year, we are able to help support the work of:
Missionary work done overseas by International Ministries of the ABC/USA through the World Mission Offering.
Missionary work done in the United States by National Ministries of the ABC/USA through the America for Christ Offering.
Emergency and Disaster Relief by the ABC/USA through the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.
Support of the emergency fund for retired ministers and missionaries of the ABC/USA through the Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering.
