The Rev. Kenneth J. Scovell
Pastor Ken is a Jersey boy. He was raised, along with his two younger brothers, by his parents in the town of Edison up in Middlesex County. After high school, he attended and completed his undergraduate work at Eastern University in St. David’s, Pennsylvania in 1978 and over the next three years did his theological training at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois and was then ordained in 1982. Since then he has served as pastor of congregations in New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He has also served as a hospital chaplain as well as a primary counselor in a community home for special needs children.
While in college, Pastor Ken met Margaret, a California girl, and after graduation they married. They have three children, a girl and two boys, who are now grown, married and have children of their own.
As a minister, Pastor Ken seeks with love and a servants heart to assist Berean Baptist to be Christ-centered in all that it does and to help the people build a strong spiritual vitality so they can be a godly people who are committed to demonstrating genuine worship, building lasting and significant relationships with each other, passionately sharing their faith with the world, growing in their understanding of God’s Word and applying it to their lives, serving with compassion those who are in great need in the community, being good stewards of all the gifts the Lord has provided them and equipping families for life with faith-based answers in our secular world.
